36Degrees Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 There is always the possibility that you could be chosen for the placebo group though If that's the group that gets to listen to Placebo whilst trying various beers then please let me know who I need to bribe to get in that one!
solitaire89 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 @Tyiell - you want the students to see you like that?! If that's the group that gets to listen to Placebo whilst trying various beers then please let me know who I need to bribe to get in that one! I'm sensing another scientific abstract that needs further investigation here - does listening to Placebo increase your beer intake? Further subjects required!
Tyiell Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 @Tyiell - you want the students to see you like that?!! Wouldn't be the first time, they get into all the bars around here apparently with very little effort. Can be a little off putting when you stagger through a bar to be met with "Look IT TECHNICIAN!!!!!" echoed by a large group of students you know without a doubt are underage... I'm sensing another scientific abstract that needs further investigation here - does listening to Placebo increase your beer intake? Further subjects required! Again: Sign me up!!! I hypothsise it will help tremendously after a set threshold of beer intake, known as the "silly drunken dancing to whatever music is available" threshold!!!
tom_newton Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Last month, the son of a friend, a student, after drinking tequila, woke up in the back of a minibus in the middle of the New Forest down in Hampshire. Nothing unusual in that other than he actually started the day at a party somewhere in Leeds. We think he must have tried to hitch-hike home after the party with a handmade cardboard sign that said 'New Forest' - which is also the name of the part of Leeds where he's actually living...... He hasn't been allowed to forget it yet! :-/ Given that I have lived in Leeds knocking on for 15 yrs and have never heard of an area called "New Forest" I might speculate that that was a particularly foolish sign to make
36Degrees Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I'm sensing another scientific abstract that needs further investigation here - does listening to Placebo increase your beer intake? Further subjects required! Don't know but for me it would certainly add an extra pleasure element to an already enjoyable experience!

solitaire89 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 @36Degrees: Does that mean you're signing up for my study then?! Cool - so we're up to 3 subjects then!
6Foot2 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I fell asleep on the couch last night with the laptop still on and me 'reading my E-Mail' It was 2:30 this morning when I eventually went up to bed. Despite this I was able to get in at the usual time and do a full day. Probably paying for it tonight/tomorrow as I had one or a few more tonight.
Andrew_C Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) Two new local beers sampled. Not as nice as last weeks, but the weather is nicer. Australian wine now, should go and cook some food to go with it! Anyone interested it is 'Nulabour Plain' shiraz, a steal at £5 a bottle from Tesco on-line. Made all the better by finding a concert on Beeb 4 with Carol King and James Taylor playing. My life is (nearly) complete! Edited May 21, 2010 by Andrew_C
tech_guy Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 This evening I took my dog to the park and played frisbee with him. He was useless. I think I need a flatter dog..... 4
ButterflyMoon Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Tonight I picked up my holiday money to go buy $ only to find my flights been cancelled on the way out and they are striking on the day I was meant to be flying home!! Bang goes half term in San Diego. Have rescheduled it for later in the year!!
tech_guy Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Last night I heard that Bono's had surgery - apparently they've successfully managed to remove his head from his ar$e.... 1
