Intel 965 Chipset

Hi Guys,

 

Having a real problem trying to install the drivers for this chipset, got a vista laptop that feels having the display driver stop responding, so thought it must just be old/wrong driver, having installed the lastest version of the driver from the intel website, it is still not responding, screen keeps flashing like crazy so just had to disable it all together just to be able to work on it. also i might add the one included with the laptop does not work either, so at a real lose as what to do next??

Yeah, no matter, which one i use, even tried installing older versions, back on to the latest now, cant find any driver packages elsewhere, the laptop i have is a phillips freevents 15nb57 series, not having much luck, find it funny though the one bundled with the install in the recovery partition hasnt worked after reinstall, this laptop was from pc world, so no discs were included, so just expected to rebuild from the recovery partition.

There should be a rebuild on the Phillips laptops, usually its F8 on startup and it has an extra menu item to the normal Vista menu.

You can also create your own recovery disk with the aptly named "Recovery Disc Creator" which is in the start menu somewhere!! I believe it just burns an ISO which is in a hidden folder somewhere in the C drive.

thats exactly what ive done, but its just the driver thats included in that rebuild image that isnt correct, or just isnt working properly, in the device manage it says graphics driver working correctly, but i get the warning message on every boot up saying "display driver stopped responding" even google couldnt give me the answer, and reinstalling the latest driver also has done resolved this issue, well and truely miffed!

Is that on a clean restore with no other additions inc service packs?

yeah, absolutely nothing else on this after the rebuild, so exactly how the image wanted it to be

Mmmm could be hardware related, what is the error code given when it stops responding?

Mmm it suggests that the hardware is taking a long time to respond to normal operations, all I can think is hardware problems really :s Try keeping the laptop as cold as possible and blow out dust to rule out chipset overheating.

I am having a similar problem with a Novatech laptop which has the mobile intel 965 express chipset family graphics. We have just created some Windows 7 images and when I restore a Windows 7 image on a laptop with this particular build the driver in device manager has a yellow exclaimation mark. When I click on the device it says "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use" (CODE12). If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

 

Has anyone seen this, can anyone help. I have looked on the intel website and already have the latest driver installed. I have uninstall the driver, restart the laptop and it picks up the same driver and then displays the same error message.
