RabbieBurns Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 More and more of my family are living away / abroad, and the way my gran (96yo) sees photos of us is when another relative goes round with a laptop and shows her our photos on facebook. Shes able to work the multi satellite receiver setup we've got her for the football, but a computer is just a bit too much... Is there a TV or some sort of appliance like that a 90+ year old could use to view facebook profiles and even maybe make one of her own that she could use to keep in touch with us?

tech_guy Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 What about a cheap laptop - with Windows SteadyState installed? Lock the O/S right down, and set it up so that IE8 or whatever is launched on startup and the home page is Facebook?
Rydra Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Some of the newer TV's have internet@TV on them, where you can plug a network connection in and browse the internet on app-style browsers. I'm fairly sure facebook is one of the ones they now support. As another alternative on the PS3 front, did you know you can plugin a Keyboard and mouse to a PS3? I have one of the really cheap Logitech Wirless kits on mine just for that.

I can barely figure out the ps3 controller let alone a 96 yr old.. i wouldn't use the PS3 browser anyway seeing as it's a half baked attempt at a web browser which cannot properly display the official playstation EU forums. i'd imagine that facebook would be the same
