{Free} Blackberry Enterprise server Express

BlackBerry - Enterprise Server Express - Free Download

 

Some of you may have already noticed the adverts on edugeek, but yes blackberry enterprise server express is now free and available to download.

 

All you need is:

 

- ANY Blackberry Data Plan

- Blackberry Device (obviously)

- Server (Can be installed on Exchange Server if < 200 users, > 200 Users a Dedicated Box would be required)

 

NOTE: 75 is recommended by BB though: http://uk.blackberry.com/services/business/comparisonchart_NA_021610_v3.pdf

 

Unlimited Licences are set for this, so no issues there!

 

Sync Email, Calendar, Contacts etc!

 

Might be useful for schools whom have staff with blackberrys and want to sync email!

On a further note, i am currently testing this out myself.. struggling with getting the blackberry to connect to be honest but will get there in the end!

Is that 200 blackberry users or 200 users in Exchange?

It does say 75 on the PDF document, but according to some other stats i read elsewhere 200 was fine...

Not sure about Exchange 2010.. I'm going to try it though once i have it working with Exch 2007

Ok its set up on Ex2010 0- bibs a bit about no CDO and an incorrect MAPI version, but still installs

The only issue is it cannot connect the gb.srp.blackberry:3101 - even though the port is open on TMG...

 

Then got the "lovely" task of trying to configure blackberry's....

UPDATE:

 

I have just phoned Orange who inform me they have put me on BIS which will not work with BES Express. Even though the document says "ANY BLACKBERRY DATA PLAN" it appears ANY ENTERPRISE BACKBERRY DATAPLAN! which is a pain because i dont have a business contract and i dont really want one so i cant test this to see if it works.

UPDATE 2: Scrap that, i have just spoken to O2 (personally face to face) whom showed me a document that states it will work with BIS. He is going to email me this over and i'll post it up.

bleh, just spotted this on another forum, I'm not sure tho that I can be bothered to waste resources on this. Why blackberries can't connect via activesync like every other smartphone is beyond me.

 

We have 5/6 staff with them at work and it's such a pain dealing with them and the various dataplans each provider has. So far we've got a few connecting via imap4 but it's not ideal.
