leco Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I keep reading that the Management Console for Exchange 2010, can be installed on a workstation but have not yet found the instructions for doing so. Could some kind person point me in the right direction please?
rh91uk Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Literally pop the CD in/mount the ISO and install the management tools like you would set up Exchange. Just choose Custom Install and tick "Management Tools". Install the Exchange 2010 Management Tools: Exchange 2010 Help 1
EduTech Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I think you have to also have a 64bit Desktop OS, as with Exchange 2007 you could install a 32bit version there is not this option in 2010. *as are as i am aware - I haven't tried because i have a x64 Desktop OS 1
leco Posted May 3, 2010 Author Posted May 3, 2010 Thanks both, my new workstation is Windows 7 and 64bit so that should work. Hadn't realised that the console was on the custom button as I was following some instructions (very carefully I might add). Now I have some more instructions I'll follow those just as carefully - don't want to mess up my bright shiny new machine.
rh91uk Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Won't mess it up. Just pop the cd in, custom -> management tools, install - and should do the trick
leco Posted May 3, 2010 Author Posted May 3, 2010 Yeah well ... the installer person has to be logged onto the domain. I'm a local user on my workstation so it didn't work. The error messages said something like There is no Active Directory and another one said The user is not a member of a domain. Ah well not to worry I can still remote in to the actual server and use the console from there.
