laserblazer Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Surprised MLS can't help, have they simply said it's irretrievable
tommccann Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 no they just wont help without support subcription
LeMarchand Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 When was the last backup? A reinstall (may need to uninstall first) will set it to the default password if things get desperate.
tommccann Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 is backed up a week ago i think, will restoring the backup now overwrite the users?
LeMarchand Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 (edited) Whenever I've set up a new library machine I just do a "normal" JL backup of the old machine to a key, then import it on to the new machine. All the user/loan/stock data seems to get transferred over. Pretty sure the catalogue does too, but I normally put on the latest Hambase disc to be sure. Any changes since the last backup will be lost, though. Just in case the default has never been changed, try (or that may jog your memory/whoever is in charge of the Library). Also, try contacting a local school - our LEA/library service likes the same password across all its schools (though not everyone follows this!). Edited July 11, 2018 by ZeroHour 1
tommccann Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 you are a star! tried librarian as the user name and the old password and bingo! some idiot had changed the username to library! thanks times a million!
