Hi

I was wondering how you all handle staff profiles?

The network I inherited was setup for staff to have roaming profiles (which is the way it has stayed). This is the first network I’ve worked with/ran which has roaming profiles...and I don’t like them. I find roaming profiles to be untidy, and hard to manage.

Ideally, I’d like to have a mandatory profile for staff...but I bet I wouldn’t hear the end of comments such as "where has my shortcut gone" and "my screen looks different"

Our students don’t have profiles; I just lock them down with GP and re-directs.

Thanks

Aaron

Sorry to somewhat hijack your thread but it is relevant! :p

The guys who have roaming profiles setup, could you post your GPO settings? Am looking at moving staff over soon!

Manadatory for everyone here, even admin staff. End of the day it's easier to manager and in my opinion that overrules any 'inconvinience'.

Gotta agree with you there, sippo. Much the same at my place.

Roaming here and very little problem in 8 years, restricted desktops as we found that the staff tend to save everything to their desktops and therefore profiles became too large.

Average profile size 1.5Mb login times at 25 secs for new profile and 5-10 secs for cached login. :)
