SIMS Spring Release - Where's the new reporting system?

I thought the reporting system was getting a massive overhaul? I can see that we have the Nova style reports now which is good, but the main system doesn't seem to have changed at all. Am I missing something?

The Report system is not due for an overhaul yet. I believe it is on the cards but when I don't know. I was on the trials last year in Cardiff. At that time it was just an option not a definite.

I thought I remembered Sivadam saying it was due to be in this release... was the trial version you had a look at any good?

As far as I know it is a bit further down the road than this year.

The report was good with lots of dragging and dropping & windows to resize. It wasn't simple but possible better than what we have. Most of us had reservations about it being a replacement just because the existing needs replacing. I thought more thought needed to go into it before it was more user friendly.

This release is nova reports, and next summer release is the start of the new reporting system IIRC. The new system requires the 2008 SQL change from what I remember.

The reporting enhancement is for the NOVA style reporting which has been well received. There is no date for moving the rest over to MS Reporting Services because the simple version is too restricted and the one with power is far too hard for ordinary people to use.

Being as my name has been mentioned I will break my self-imposed silence for this thread.

It was the NT4 type Student Reporting in SIMS that I was referring to in the thread 'SIMS.net tabulated reg group report'. I will be attending the Workshop, next month, to test the second part of this product - the NT4 type Timetable Reporting in SIMS.

This is due for delivery in the Summer Release!

Come on now Mike! It's time to break that self-imposed ban, you've got a lot of knowledge to share which would help us all :)

Don't worry about other members of this forum... I think a certain person may have accidentally fallen in their own swimming pool anyway!

I had noticed this. maybe I will start to respond again if that is the case. I would not be contributing as much as I do on SupportNet though. If anybody does appreciate my advice then it is usually given there anyway.

Thank you both for your support.
