Slartibartfast Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Knowledge of server virtualisation (particularly Hyper-V) would be advantageous!
somabc Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 VMware vSphere is better VMware is a lot more expensive as well
Slartibartfast Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Obnoxiously expensive. Also, ARK as a whole doesn't use it - they use Hyper-V (hence my comment).
rad Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 The Secondary school is not even open for students, the first Year 7 start in September.
Slartibartfast Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 It's a new building with a substantial amount of IT infrastructure going in. The NM post covers the Primary and the Secondary.
somabc Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 (edited) It's a new building with a substantial amount of IT infrastructure going in. The NM post covers the Primary and the Secondary. Do you work for Ark? Edit: Sorry reading your profile I see that you do. IT Infrastructure Manager Company Represented ARK Academies Company URL http://www.arkonline.org What is the relation of the NM to the Overall ARK Infrastructure? How does the infrastructure in each school function, do they have their own domain, own servers etc or is that hosted from your data centre? How does Line management from the School back into the ARK Hierarchy work? Thanks for answering any questions. Edited April 22, 2010 by somabc
Slartibartfast Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 The academy will have its own domain and infrastructure (which is a part of the wider ARK Schools Active Directory forest) with server infrastructure on-site. It's currently hosted at our datacentre, but once the new building is in place (September) a pile of physical server kit will be installed on-site. ARK has a central IT team that provides additional second and third line technical support, MIS support, software development and project management resource.
eddiebaby Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Can someone say how much "Scale 10 Point 35 – 42" equates to please
IanT Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 When I was reading the job spec for it, looks more like a Senior Techie role, not a NM...............how much control do the Network Managers have at the Ark Schools?
srochford Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I don't know the organisation but I know the area (used to have a centre just round the corner). You're walking distance from Wembley stadium so when the development in that area is complete it will be a really good place to work (it's not bad now). Tube station is close and there are reasonably good roads. If you want open space, Fryent country park (Fryent Country Park) and Brent Reservoir (Welsh Harp Reservoir - much nicer than the name suggests!) are close by and if you want a supermarket then Asda is just a short walk away.
Kitkatninja Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Can someone say how much "Scale 10 Point 35 – 42" equates to please I would say approx £29k to £35k, see here (click on NJC Salary 2009-10, which opens up an Excel doc). -Ken
Kitkatninja Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 The title of the post says £39k? That may be taking into consideration London Weighting Allowance since it's in Wembley... -Ken
