At about 48 seconds into the clip, check out the people on the banking at the back legging it as the wheels fly towards them - it looks like they had a lucky escape!

And who wouldn't! If Buemi was doing 200, those wheels romped right past him - they must've hit 250!

Apparently they were trying out a suspension/wheel part which failed on one side - as a result of that side failing the stress on the other side caused that to go too - even in the milliseconds difference you can see in the slow mo.

Toro Rosso said the crash had been caused by a failure of the front-right upright, which caused an immediate failure of the same part on the left.

That is amazing - it looked like a staged failure, maybe with an explosive charge used to blow off the wheels.
