A few weeks ago I downloaded Ruckus firmware 8.2.0.1.8. Now when I look at the Ruckus site the firmware has gone back to 8.1.1.0.12. Was there something wrong with the version 8.2?

8.2.0.1.8 was released to support the new 73XX AP models. I believe it has been removed due to 8.2 MR1 being uploaded soon.

Hi,

I posted about this on the Ruckus Support Forum and had this message back.

Hi,

We have received a few client connectivity issues after ZDs were upgrade to 8.2.0.1.8. Even though the number of reported issues is very small, we decided to remove the 8.2.0.1.8 firmware from the Support web site, while we were investigating the reported issues.

If your ZD is upgraded to 8.2.0.1.8 and you do not observe any client connectivity issue, you don’t have to take any action. If you are, however, seeing client connectivity issue, please send email to [email protected]. One of our Technical Support engineers will assist you.

We have identified the root cause of the reported issues, and we will be releasing a new version of 8.2 firmware early next week.

Kind Regards,

I have had users report to me that since upgrading the firmware to 8.2 they have experienced dropouts when connecting to our Wireless Projectors in school. I e-mailed the support address and they were hoping that if all the test's go to plan, then the 8.2 MR1 will be out by the end of the week, so here's hoping today then sometime!!

Hope that helps,

Matt

I have been trying to upgrade to the FW 9.1.0.0.38 but it never gives me the "UPGADE" button.

All I see is Uploading Cancel. Then I finally see error on page at the bottom of the screen.

Anyone know how I can get around this?

We are getting hit with lost heartbeats which cause a loss in traffic for 3-5 minutes.

we are currently on FW 7.0.0.0 build 57.

Thank you for your response.

Ok, your going to need to go to v8 then v8.2 then v9

I'd do the first upgrade using SSH.

Ssh into your ZD and run fw_upgrade

what a mess. The other day I could download just fine but today when I tried to get the ZD1000 8.0 Firmware I am blocked.

Says I need to be logged in with a premire support account. I am not real happy with Ruckus right now.

Is your software update subscription paid up and up to date? Firmware updates aren't free downloads.

No we just found this out having not done any updates since install (2008) I've been quoted £500 for the director controller & £20 ea. per AP

Is that a standard rate or are there cheaper deals around?

I couldn't tell you if that is right I'm afraid. However, you only need the bottom level support - just for software updates basically.

Realistically, that price doesn't sound bad, as you're paying for support, and catching up with the support you've not had so far I think?

Get in contact with one of the Ruckus Suppliers - We've got ours under a maintenance contract which covers these upgrades and also any failures to either the ZD or any APs. We had one go pop about 6 months ago and a replacement was sent pretty quickly. We use CPL Ltd for our Ruckus bits.

THX for the info guys, Mark @ CPL contacted me & has given me some help regarding this. Now to put some info together to show the benefits of a big firmware/mesh network upgrade to the purse string holders!
