GrumbleDook Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 You may have guessed I quite like Blackadder ... As for facial hair, mine varies from clean-shaven, a few days of stubble, a stubbly goatee, a thick goatee, a goatee with stubble on the side ... through to a month of goatee with 2 weeks of growth on the sides. I just like to surprise people when I come into work.
witch Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I haven't any facial hair, so I can't be a geek either.. (And a ginger, too - is there no hope) But MrwITch, who is of course a geek as well, has had a full beard ever since I have known him which is 25 years. It was a full-on jet black pirate beard in those days, now it is a very short, grey, nearly stubble-type thing.
tech_guy Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 FTR I've had a beard since I was 18 and I'm now 46....
6Foot2 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I had fully intended to keep my long hair and big bushy beard for good. However some time ago I was persuaded to have half the beard and half of the heair on my head shaved off [opposite sides] and the quarters sprayed four different colours. All this for charity. On that occasion we raided over £ 2000 [in conjunction with a Beaujolais run. We have had several shavings since with the amount raised going down each time. I shan't do another charity event bas I expect it would raise very little but I do not regret cutting off the hair and beard even though it has never really grown back properly.
kearton Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Anyway, what have you got (or not) facial-hair wise, just out of interest? There's a vital option missing from the poll... "Van Dyke"... so I can't vote! I think that many of the blokes who voted "Goatee" may also have a "Mo", in which case they've voted incorrectly...
john Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) I'm happy to admit I'm lazy so it gets done once or twice a week when I can be bothered so if its a lazy week its very designer, but it does get annoying if i leave it too long. Should keep it as designer and keep it that way but takes effort and I'm lazy. How can a geek's facial hair contribute to anything related to our "geekyness" though goodness only knows its as bad as the hair debate on length. Edited March 30, 2010 by john
PiqueABoo Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Whatever happened to the pony-tail as proof of geekiness then (optionally co-ordinated with a PGP in perl t-shirt)?
GrumbleDook Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Now back to clean-shaven (ok ... a day or two stubble) and grade 1 hair. I look almost thug-ish .... if I wasn't so cute
