Hello there,

First post, so bare with me to get this right!

I work at a secondary school and we have a HP Laserjet P4015X printer installed on the network for the Office staff to use. This is used by about 5 people in the office. Now the problem we are recieving is a PCL error. When one of the staff prints more than 2 pages for e.g. 10 page document, it always prints a spare page in between with an error on the top left of the page. Because there are 10 printed, 5 of these pages would come out with the error. This is very frustrating for them and the only thing i can think of solving this problem is to reinstall the drivers on the server again. When you add this printer, it shows PCL6 on the title, i believe this is the type of driver being used?

The error reads when printed out:

PCL XL error

Subsystem: KERNEL

ERROR: IllegalOperatorSequence

Operator: EndChar

Position: 106

Any help with this to remove it!?

Thank you.

Id put the postscript universal driver on and see how it goes then - youll need to run the setup after installing the universal driver (its automatic normally) and then re install the printer onto the clients using the new driver and see how that goes.

I'm also getting a member of staff waiting for 5 or 10 minutes while it prints a one page Publisher document which is in black and white, lanscape format. It just stays at the green loading bar near the end and after 5, 10 minutes it completes then it prints. Why does it take so long? The document is only about 500Kb.

I have installed the Post script driver as stated above and then installed the driver on the machine. Just need to test it 100%, can't do anything around here during school time. It's horrendous.
