www.wordle.net/create doesnt work for student account

when staff accounts goto wordle.net/create and then press "create" this then loads java and works fine.

 

however

 

when a student account goes to wordle.net/create and then presses create nothing happens!.

im guessing its a problem with java but im unsure where to start with it.

 

any advice or soltuons would be great

Can you tell us some stuff about your network?

 

Do you have a proxy? Do you have different proxy rules for staff?

Do you have a different filtering policy for staff and students?

What version of Java do you have?

What profiles do staff and students have?

What OS?

Wordle.Net has just been mentioned "in dispatches" by BBC correspondent Rory Cellan Jones. Apparently he used Wordle to analyse the Budget speech to see what was the most common word, most significant word etc in the Budget speech.

any luck with this? we are having the same problem, we run through a proxy set by our provider, latest version of java update 7 version 9. windows XP IE 8. students get error on page at the bottom of IE and can not press the GO button, it just does nothing. The same machine logged on as me works with no problem so I don't think it is proxy related. Students do have a seperate policy but I am struggling to think of what would actually stop this loading.

Sorry in the delay getting back to you Jon. Had to think hard. Think its maybe a filtering issue. we have a new filtering system in place now. Like i say it's been a while but I reckon in our case it was a random category block / over lapping category. (tick box in categories:-) What GUI do you use? We had a cache pilot and an ISA On to easy net upstreams proxys. We might have even changed the physical connections for the server but I'd have to check back in the notes to be sure.

Hi, my school district has many XP computers in a students domain. we were having issues using the embedded java printing in Wordle on computers running XPSP3. The Wordles would print fine from computers in students domain using Windows 7, and both Win7 and XP computers in the teachers domain. I discovered that Java 7 update 9 would not allow printing but Java 6 update 34 prints Wordles fine. Java 6 update page: Java Downloads for All Operating Systems Version 6 Update 37

it is java 6 update 37, but possibly since it is Java 6 might be fine.

 

I will contact Sun about the Wordle printing issue with Java 7; i had to turn off the Java update notification so another tech wouldn't see the notification and undo everything! I hope this helps.

Has anyone found the answer to this yet? I'm running a CC4 network with a SmartCache2 Proxy. The pupils go through the SmartCache filter but I can't see anything obvious that would block it.
