Looking for a Wired Internet Radio

I am looking to purchase an Internet radio. Not bothered about built in speakers as I am planning on connecting it to my hifi.

 

I am looking for one which can:

• Connect the Internet using either Wired or Wireless LAN (Have not yet invested in WLAN but may in the future)
  
• Has the option of playing my music file stored on my pc
  
• Has a USB port for audio from a pen drive.
  

 

So far I have come across the Pioneer PDX-Z9 but its only got Wired LAN for Internet radio.

Any ideas are appreciated

That has wired/wireless support, uPNP/Network streaming support, but doesn't have USB support.

Nope. I have never had a need for it. I have always avoided it. For example my Cable Modem is downstairs. Some may say get wireless but I got some netgear Ethernet over power adapters and plugged them into my PIX 501 instead.

 

I preferred to compromise flexibility for security. Never been a fan of wireless. I have enough trouble with it at work. Connections dropping etc

Ive got a couple of the netgear eva8000 media players, and they come with a truckload of stations preprogrammed and its a doddle to add more.. Its more than just an internet radio player though so might be overkill for what you want / need.

Ive got a Logitech squeezebox boom which im very happy with. For models without speakers try the squeezbox duet or if you are a real audiophile with spare money try the squeezebox Transporter. I dont think they do any devices with USB ports for playing from pen drives but they can stream audio from your pc so why not plug the pen drive in there add add the songs to your library.

You might find it cheaper to buy a regular wifi internet radio and a wireless router!

Ahhh someone else got there before me..

I've got a squeezebox too. Works well for me, plugged into a an old set of speakers and the music stored on a small 500MHz server.

The squeezebox software is opensource and you can get plugins for it (like RSS scrolling displays and the like).

It reconises most media formats (aac, flac, mp3 etc..) and apparently works with itunes.. (although I haven't tried that)

I have tested many of these units, i have found the best one by far is the MOS150 it was being discounted from Argos cost is around £89 inc vat, it has lan socket wifi and presets for many channels.
