Fantastic! Looking forward to it. I've lit. just finished re-watching the classic first movie. On a semi-related note looks like we might be getting a Alien prequel directed by Ridley Scott next year!

I've checked out the some High Def releases doing the rounds of the original movies [ Alien ] - VERY disappointing. Best was Alien 3. I don't think the proper BRs are actually released yet.

They can't so they're doing the next best thing - a remake (in all but name). Still looks good, can't wait.

Not that I've watched either zillions of time, but it depends on my mood - they're both pretty good in their respective genres. I guess Aliens is generally easier to be entertained by.

 

Hadn't heard about the Alien prequel - went looking and ran straight into irritating nerdish pedants blathering on about whether it was or wasn't possible to do X, Y and Z and not violate canonicity and so on.. I just don't get it.. as in does it really matter. [see also: Any Dr Who Forum].

 

Back on topic, Predator never struck me as anything to write home about.

Really? I love it, a high octane romp filled with testosterone laden meat heads battling it out. Loads of action, GREAT bad guy, guns, one liners it's the ultimate 80's action flick

This has got stinker written all over it. RR is a train crash of a director, wonder if they will have a dick van dyke SAS soldier in it to go with the other stereotype soldiers in it.

 

Just my opinion, I ws looking forward to AVP and it was one of the worst film ever created.

I prefered AvP Requiem, never been a big Aliens fan and predator 1 was the only good one.

Love the films (the AVP were a stretch...some pretty good gibbing though) huuuuuge fan of the originals,so much so I even brought home 2 statues of the Alien and Predator characters from Thailand. We'd taken pictures of 6ft tall statues made from scrap metal in Samui (even using sparkplugs..astounding craftmanship) I found a small shop nearby selling smaller efforts, even using bike chains for the pred's dreads.

 

Both have pride of place on the mantelpiece, well worth having my hand luggage ransacked at our exchange flight from Mumbai early last Jan. Those with good memories will know why a parcel full of complex metal fibres caused havoc through the xray....ooof!
