Wireless Monitors

Anyone used or tested a wireless monitor? Obviously VGA not power! Need to put a monitor on a desk in the middle of a classroom and cant run cables over the floor.

I will be honest and say that I didnt even know that they existed....

 

however I highly doubt they could cope with a gamer playing MW2 or BFBC2

The have been talked about for a while and really only just coming onto the market. I agree with you about gaming, but we dont have a requirement for gaming - simply just need to clone the teachers desktop onto a monitor that needs to be located on a pupils desk.

I notice alot of the new TV's have wireless embedded, perhaps the future plans are to have everything interconnect via Wireless.

Would be nice to be honest, but would Wireless have the throughput to display 1080p content at 1920x1080?

Typical video delivery with standard SDTV/DVD can consume between 3 to 7 Mbps, while HDTV can require between 19 to 24 Mbps. A point distribution technology like Wireless USB with its projected effective bandwidth of 480 Mbps, could manage multiple HDTV streams while still having the capacity to support other high-bandwidth data streams.

I didn't know about wireless monitors, but I know lots of projectors can come with wireless modules now. The 2 casio's we've ordered will have the wireless module for us to try out.

 

It makes sense really - less cables = less upset teachers who bend pins or lose them.

Never used a wireless monitor but wireless projectors at least the older wireless projectors could not cope with video very well. If you wanted the desktop or simple things like a word document it was ok for that. I am unsure if newer wireless projectors are better or if wireless monitors suffer from the same problem.
