SLG access over SSL

We have our Sims Learning Gateway set up for external access over SSL. Users can log in however the SIMS web parts all report the following errors "Web Part Error: An unexpected error has occurred." Its fine internally over port 80, so we are not sure what we are doing wrong!

 

Anyone have any suggestions that we should try.

i'm not a sharepoint person . . . yet!

dns issue?

are you using ISA or other router internally?

do the webparts have an ip hard coded in them that would not resolve externally or something like that...?

check the hosts file windows\system32\drivers\etc make sure that your domain (netbiod one) is added with an IP address of your DC.

What we had done was set a second IIS to handle the external side of SLG.

Now we have one instance of IIS covering both port 80 & SSL.
