New School Site

As many already know - the Edugeek Joomla template is a godsent. I've had to create our website pretty quickly due to a problem with the LEA hosting a Welsh version in SharePoint. It has been a quick turnaround and development is far from over but...

 

Thank you Edugeek for making my life easier.

 

I've added a module at the top of the page. Not sure if I like it yet but I am happy with it. The school focus group will make their minds up I'm sure.

 

Please do take a look - like I say - don't expect anything amazing, it's just the Edugeek template. More pictures are needed, more information is needed. The head just wanted our web presence.

The module is called yoocarousel and is from YOOtheme? - Joomla!? Templates and Extensions - Blog

 

There are quite a few there. I don't usually join developer/design clubs but I did like this module. So I joined for three months (or the school did).

Theres a spelling mistake on the second tab...

 

Use 'Cysill Ar-lein' to chech your Welsh language spelling and grammar

 

Check is spelt wrong

A cracker Gareth, I'm well envious that you managed to put it together in such short time:)

 

My site took me the best part of a year and I'd never have got it done at all apart from the huge support of many EduGeekers:o

 

Now I have learnt a tad about joomla and the rest of the package I'm hopeful that my site for my other school should be done in 6 months!!

I started it late in January when it turned out the LEA couldn't accomodate us. I went to see the Headteacher and we decided to go for it.

 

I will thank James (EduTech Hosting) for the speed at which the hosting was setup.

Have you got a favicon to replace the standard Joomla?

I will point out some other excellent modules I have used:

 

JoomlaPack - great for making backups and moving the site from the test server to the main server. It just works.

 

JoomFish - Let's you create excellent multi language websites. In my case it was Welsh. One of the developers is Welsh :-) See we do have talent on this side of the bridge.

 

Phoca Gallery - Not quite there yet, but on the way.

 

YooThemes - more to be used

 

ForceIE8 Compatability Mode - yes I have that module in there.

 

JCE 1.5.6 - the text editor

 

and of course I Edugeek for hosting the template files. Amazing.

 

Finally, sysman for the template - surely it's time for another one now :-)

And 'Octover' on the liaison page

 

Mis-spaced 'i tpossible' on pastoral care page

Organisation of teaching - it says 'years7' instead of year 7

 

Sorry to be so anal but your site is so nice I cant bear to see it spoiled by typos!!

The border is coming from CSS, you need to assign the module a special class, and then use CSS assigned to that class to "border: none;"

Actually you will proberbly get away with just turning it off...

• Make a 16px by 16px jpg and go to favicon.co.uk, then upload the file that gives you to "/templates/axe_rescheek_blue/" over writing the one that is already there
  

Also keywords and meta description

• From the global settings inside admin
  

 

Other than that it looks good, that yoo slideshow does look more at home there than the original slideshow...

Hi witch - not a problem at all. I had to manually type in the prospectus because nobody could find the pdf or original versions :-(

 

I bet it comes to light when they want the new prospectus printing in a few months.

As for the grammar - I just copied the prospectus on most pages. It's above my pay scale :-)

All done, but cannot get the favicon.ico file to display in Firefox on my Mac.
