Anyone know a way of identifying what type of mainboard is in a PC, preferably without taking it apart to physically look at it? I've got one which I changed a while ago, and have just found out the audio drivers aren't installed. I've already tried using the drivers CDs which I have, but none of them work so it looks like I've chucked it out (doh!).

msinfo32 just says "manufacturer name" in the relevant field, which obviously isn't very helpful! hwinfo32 gave me what I needed, though.

I like CPU-Z, but alternatively have a look at the Device Instance ID and Google it. It can give a good lead as to what audio device it is. If Windows doesn't install it, a lot of motherboards come with Realtek onboard audio these days.

Aye - I really like it but as OutTolunch said - they're properly free for business use, a fact I'd forgotten as I only ever have cause ot use them at home!
