Hello,

I am wondering what people suggest as a backup domain controller.

I would be looking to run some flavour of Windows on it.

Thanks.

There are no 'backup' domain controllers any more, only domain controllers and domain controllers with extra perks.

(all DCs are equal, but some DCs are more equal than others...)

Anyway.. pick a server, any server. Most DCs are pretty lightly loaded, you don't need anything special.

I'm using one of those cheap £99 Proliant ML-115's. Works a treat, although I guess they're no longer £99 any more.

As a matter of interest have you needd to add anything to bring it up to the spec you required?
