[SOLVED] Raid 5 Stopping Image Load?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I know this is a shot in the dark, but.....

We have a server with raid 5 that crashed. I make full backups (system images) weekly, and used one of those images on another machine while I got this server working.

I replaced the SCSI controller, made my logical drive of the array (as a raid 5 again) and shot the weekly complete backup image at the fixed drive.

Using am Ubuntu startup CD, I can see all of the system server files were placed on this server, however when the server boots, only a flashing curser shows on the top left of the screen.

I've never seen this before, any ideas?

Hi there, Have you tried to set the MBR ? what Os are you using ? If its win 2x you can use the Recovery console and use the good old fixboot command

Also with the Raid 5 array have you got the partitions exactly the same as before ?

Thanks for the quick reply...

I dont know what it is, but once I type out the problem and walk away, I get another idea in my head that often is the solution.

There was a second raid controller that was disabled.... turned it back on and Bam, worked like a charm..
