Hi there, Have you tried to set the MBR ? what Os are you using ? If its win 2x you can use the Recovery console and use the good old fixboot command Also with the Raid 5 array have you got the partitions exactly the same as before ?

I can say from personal experience Xirrus are not very good to work with. Sorry if that offends but it's true.

Hey there. as you are using a core2duo (with 2 cores) try configuring the VM to use 1 core and see if this helps. alternatively look at Sun virtual box or Dare i say it Ms Virtual pc (Both free) Hope this helps a little

Hi. not used smooth wall so can't answer in detail i'm afraid but if you have alot of rouge traffic one explanation could be you have the conflikr virus on your lan ? maybe worth checking.

Hi there hope someone can shed some light on this for me. We are running a mac suite of 22 iMacs which are linked to our xserv open directory replica and windows 2003 domain. All users log on fine and access their home directory via AD authentication etc. The problem is that kids are using iMovie09 and when you move the project file to the media share on the xserv the project file wont open and shows as empty ! Any ideas of how to overcome this ? I'm also having problems with auto mounting the shares on the xserv as they don't automount although the credentials are correct and permissions are set. If they goto connect to server they can map so its not an authentication issue. im under pressure to get a workable solution regarding saving the imovie data on the xserv as the 2003 servers dont have enough space so any help will be much appreciated. Hi there how is the printer connected ? If its local via usb then have you tried capturing the LPT port ? Simple dos script does the job for me if its something you would like to try let me know and I will post the info.

2 x Apple Mac pros with dual quad core Xeons, 32 GB Ram per server. Install parallels, Use OSX as the base system for security and reliability, install win2003 or 2008 server onto vm's allocate 6 gig Per virtual server. setup load balancing for the 2 vm's on parallels. Skip exchange and use osx mail services ! Use Ranger on the servers and desktop to lock them down, build a 10-20Tb Backup appliance, use NT backup and duplicate backups to another nas in a different location then to tape or ext HDD and take off site. For file shares, apps and general storage buy 4 drobo pro's or similar with 16tb storage, Iscsi and mirror for redundancy. (really simple to setup and not all that expensive! ) very fast and reliable and with regards to networking simple port trunks, spanning tree and vlans where needed.

Hi there ! My personal View Is go vanilla. I have extensively used both and I must say that although CC3 is quite good I would always go vanilla if given the choice. The main reasons for this is that although everything is tightly integrated in CC3 such as the management console and workstation builds I feel that this approach is quite restrictive and can cause issues with deployment of software & security features, to name just two. I know people out there champion RM and for the most part they are right too but I much prefer to do things "my way" not how RM see fit. At the end of the day if you don't have all that many users and aren't into active directory management then CC3 /4 are are good option. Its a personal choice but I feel restricted using cc3 If it were upto me I would opt for 2003 / 2008 server for active directory, shares and printing. Osx server (prob not in a primary but its excellent for media, email and podcast duties) and xp / osx desktops. Use AVG antivirus or similar and ranger for networks for security.
