Can anyone recommend a make of AV over CAT5 transmitters / recievers?

I'm considering Databank, Smart-e and Lindy but would be interested to hear any experiences good or bad regarding reliability, video/audio quality or suggestions of other / better makes.

@ANiceEnglishman:

We used the Lindy unit (can't remember the model number but could have a look) It has worked flawlessly for the past year or more. :)

Thanks very much for the responses so far.

To give a bit more detail:

Initial requirement is for three screens but we may want to extend in the future. This means some runs will probably end up exceeding the 300m most are specified for but I see Databay do a transceiver which will extend the range.

Source would be a PC in the server room which will play out TV progammes made by our media study students, Powerpoints or other computer-originated content. We'd also like to be able to show off-air TV (BBC News for example). One way to do this would be a TV card in the PC.

We do have a UHF TV distribution system to most rooms (but not those where the first three screens are required!). So an alternative to VGA over CAT5 could be to modulate the VGA signal and inject it into the existing system, extended as necessary, and use TVs rather than monitors.

Any more thoughts?

Does anyone know any firms in the south Wales area who do this sort of work (on a budget - we only have £2000 to spend on this).

I know that the rextron also do a repeater.. Also the model I have can be daisy chained. Now I am not to sure if that is 150m between devices or 150m total daisy chained.I think you would have to call them and find out. If I come across anymore info I will post here

Hi have used these in the past and work a treat.

Transmitter

CAT5e/6 VGA & Audio Transmitter, 250m | VGA | Extenders | Audio / Video | LINDY UK

Receiver

CAT5e/6 VGA & Audio Receiver, 250m | VGA | Extenders | Audio / Video | LINDY UK

These will transmit VGA and 3.5mm audio upto 250m and also have a gain adjustment on them.

A little expensive but work really well.

8 port transmiter

CAT5e/6 8 Port VGA & Audio Transmitter, 250m | VGA | Extenders | Audio / Video | LINDY UK

Hello.

We have used Rextron, and still do for shorter distance units. For longer lengths we moved over to Kramer units, and use them a lot across longer spans to Plasma screens.

Tend to buy from Oncall farnell / cpc as a rule for this sort of kit.

Another Rextron user, but I also used a cheap set from CPC the other week and they were good as well so take your choice :)
