Our Y6 kids start probabilty in Maths this week. I've asked the teachers to discuss our lottery bonus ball syndicate and look at the probability of winning and then to come up with a reason why my number hasn't come up in the last 8 years. Is the fact that it is 13 relevant?

Its not a mere meme, its a demonstration of a game which breaks the basic rules of game theory which are (if I remember correctly):

 

- The players must be aware that they are playing

- All players must know the rules

- There must be a clear way to win

- There must be a way to finish playing

 

So its a highly important philosophical construct, which just also happens to be one of the most annoying memes you'll ever come across.
