I have School guardian and it works fine with all my winxp etc pc's.

I have just put together my first ubuntu server and have also installed the gui (until I get used to command line) I can use firefox through the proxy although I have to put my username in as domin\username then password, as it does not like username@domainname then password.

 

I cannot get the update package to work all I get are 407 authentication errors.

I am using ntlm authentication for the windows machines.

 

I am guessing this is a simple tick in the right box problem .

Stick your ubuntu apt servers in "do not authenticate for" is the easiest version. Wether ubuntu will support NTLM auth I don't know. I'll have a looksee when I return to the office and my ubuntu box. You may have to drop me an email to remind me tho
