Dodgy geography resource, that uses java and flash. Basically it is SHITE

 

Have any of you come across it and had success rolling it out on a network and have it actually work?

 

I've played with all security settings and I still cannot get it to go past the flashy intro, it just stays there.

 

Help!?

We have a Geography title by the same company and is all HTML/Java but it's called Horizons. Luckily the teachers only need it on their machines so we just install locally. It looks like it's just web-based, but then it begs the question why they use a full-blown MSI installer :?

Thats one of them, we have Horizons 1-3 and then 3 others, they've bought the 1000+ users licence for £300ea per title, so want it site wide.

 

Even installed stand alone it doesnt work. It truly is the most appalling software I've ever seen sold.

Just Click is just a name on the box, i have no idea who is the publisher and who is the programming house, one or t'other thats why i put both names.

it'll certainly apply to horizons. I think horizon 1 uses flash player 7 and the other two install flash player 8 and so overwrite the older version. if you follow my link and scan down about 3 posts you should see what I'm trying to point you to.

Don't you just love stupid drones ... they then admitted the fault and put the blame with the company that produce it for them as they are just the publishers ...

I thought they'd say that and I even lowered all the security down to allow EVERYTHING! and it still wouldn't work.

 

I really wish they wouldn't make such shit IE based software.

if they know it's faulty and are passing it off as fit for purpose, then they are equaly, if not more, culpable. perhaps they'll return all the monies spent under the sale of faulty goods act

We have Nelson Thornes eScience. It sounds like a similar problem to that which I had. Make sure you have the latest JRE and also the latest version of Flash. There is a Flash uninstaller you should run first (if you don't do this it doesn't replace it properly). Once the new version of Flash is installed it all starts to work in a magical fashion.

OK then just tried this out, i got it working as admin whoopyay *does a dance* so get the teacher to log in and.............doesn't work. I hate flash. What's wrong with doing things properly?

It will work as admin with any version of Flash but you need the bang up to date version to make it work as a regular user.

 

You could run a startup script on your machines to run the uninstaller EXE and then push out the new version of Flash via MSI or as part of that script.
