Windows XP/IE7 and embedded PDF's

Bank online e-statements.

 

a few users can get to the point where the spare window pops up where the pdf should be displayed and they are met with a blank white screen. User assured me that this is the only PDF/IE related function that is not working.

 

I checked their IE security settings and they were spot on. I reinstalled adobe with no happy results. I logged into user's PC and and was able to see them no problem. This screamed "profile". I went ahead and killed the local profile and renamed her roaming one. no difference. I reinstalled IE7. no difference. This behavior does not follow her to other machines. (Yet eliminating her profile changed nothing.) this all works fine in Firefox

 

If the issue was due to a WSUS update I would imagine that it would effect waaaaay more people.

 

 

Any ideas?

What version of Adobe Reader are you on?

The problem started while 9.2 was installed. the same week that the problem arose, 9.3 was released. Didnt make any difference though

Does the same problem happen with Safe Mode with Networking, logging on as a local administrator?

I had not tried that. Not sure the activeX controls would run at all. (pretty sure they won't)

 

I did however, log on as myself (domain admin) and it worked under my profile.

If works on the Domain admin it suggest there's a permissions problem somewhere along the line.

 

Can the user open acrobat reader itself without trying to open a document? Can they open a pdf document not on an internet link?

 

Also can this user use acrobat reader successfully if given domain admin privileges temporarily?

Other folks that are not domain admins (or even local admins) do not have this issue.

Yes. Every other PDF opens no problem

I will grant her local admin rights and check the permissions on her profile.

I get this on firefox, it usually works the second time i open it. I am a domain admin. It doesnt really bother me its just annoying.
