Help me find the policy for this...

I have recently setup a windows 7 test network, which i have a windows XP and windows 7 client on along with a 2008 R2 DC, i've been configuring the policies, testing software and testing mandatory profiles, redirected start menus etc

 

I have only one problem left then it is all ready to be deployed through out school

 

This problem is confusing me a bit, it is fine in windows 7, everything acts as i would expect it to, but on windows XP when i open my computer, then open a drive, then a folder in the drive, every window opens in a new window, its like using windows 3.1!

 

I can't find the policy for this (if it is a policy) any suggestions as to how i go about sorting this?

Could be 'Turn On Classic Shell' In Windows Explorer

 

If not it should be in there someone Im gussing, cause its to do with Windows Explorer

There isn't a GPO to do this, we fixed it by login script and a reg key.

Tried that as well, still didn't work, i must have something somewhere else which is forcing this, i'll try editing the ntuser.man as perhaps i've locked a setting into that

We had a similar problem, i believe it might be something to do with the local default user profile settings.

 

I believe we had to rename the default user to default.old and then rename a profile which we had fixed it on to default.

 

It was something along those lines but it solved the problem. If you go Tools -> Folder Options -> General and it is the Browse Folder option that is likely set to 'open each folder in its own window' in the default profile.

 

Again, that was how we fixed it, potentially your problem is slightly different but thought it might be worth mentioning

Quick edit, I know you wanted a policy for this, off the top of my head we tried fixing it via policies and it wouldnt work so thats why we did the above.......
