cable testing

Silly question I know:

Checking out a cable stretching halfway across the school with my trusty cable tester: Lights cycle 1 to 8 as they should but 'G' doesnt come on at all at either end.

Don't think I have noticed before whether it comes on or not.

Is this a problem? I'm not too hot on networking issues :oops:

Unless it's shielded twisted pair which has the ground sheilding connected to the sockets then it won't. Normal UTP i.e unshielded twisted pair is common.

As Ben says - not a problem with normal cable.

Yup its fine unless its shielded cable
