speckytecky Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 Thanks to the three of you who recently found the BAT file useful. Just wish I could remember details of the female techie who gave it to me in the first place. I have used it many hundred times since and silently thank her every time I use it. Thankfully there are a lot of good folk about that help make the techie world go round smoother. Off thread I include in that the expert at the Bath Apple store who fixed my Art teachers iMack on Thursday and gave me several useful pointers for any future encounters I have with Black screen iMacks - all for Free! That particular machine had the OS disk stuck in it and wouldn't boot - it was either removal and plugging in the power lead from the back of the unit or reseating the RAM that brought it back to life. Excellent. Worked perfectly. Thanks.
IanPrice Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Just a quick thanks for your batch file (stopping and starting the update service and registering the .dlls) which worked for me today on an old XP laptop that wouldn't update.
