403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. Win XP Updates

Thanks to the three of you who recently found the BAT file useful. Just wish I could remember details of the female techie who gave it to me in the first place. I have used it many hundred times since and silently thank her every time I use it. Thankfully there are a lot of good folk about that help make the techie world go round smoother.

 

Off thread I include in that the expert at the Bath Apple store who fixed my Art teachers iMack on Thursday and gave me several useful pointers for any future encounters I have with Black screen iMacks - all for Free! That particular machine had the OS disk stuck in it and wouldn't boot - it was either removal and plugging in the power lead from the back of the unit or reseating the RAM that brought it back to life.

Just a quick thanks for your batch file (stopping and starting the update service and registering the .dlls) which worked for me today on an old XP laptop that wouldn't update.
