Its fair to say the process has me tearing my hair out Anyway I am looking at the Be Value package. Anyone has experience of Be? What are they like? They seem to get a good rating on thinkbroadband. Thoughts?

NickK Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Ive had a Be account at home for years and recently started using them for my secondary line at work (replaced a 2mb sdsl lin @ £350p.m with a 24 mb service from Be pro @£30p.m) Best ISP i have ever had. Great customer service & they dont lie to you about realistic speeds you should expect. Cant recommend them highly enough esp for home users. 1

I've found them to be pretty impressive in terms of speed etc. But in all honesty, I should report that of late I've been having my internet drop out daily, fix is simple enough - reboot the router and it comes back. Pain though, as I have to physically be here to do that But hopefully, this is just a rare occurrence that happened to hit my router. Certainly the service I get from Be, for the price, (I'm also on Value) is ample reason to stick with them despite the annoyance. 1

Cant recommend them highly enough esp for home users. agree with all that except for customer service - not sure if its just me but the last several times ive called in and especially the first time I called up to go with them I A - Get through to an iternational visitor and struggle to understand what it is they are saying. B - When I first registered with them I specifically requested a dhcp account numerous times on the phone for that original phone call and I get a static ip address and when I tried to change it the 3 or 4 people I spoke with didn't have a clue what I was talking about ie dhcp versus a static ip address, not exactly the most complex thing to understand and I even explained it in simple pigeon english ie I want the one that automatically assigns my network information not a manually / statically assigned one. C - You get a thompson router with Be so if you have your own ADSL2+ router then use it otherwise get one ie linksys, netgear, draytek, etc and the tech support line should be able to advise you of the config you need to get a seperate router working with the ADSL connection. Well at least I felt it was pants anywho ( the be thompson router that is ) Other then that it always works and if they are going to have maintenance or it will be down you get an email before hand which is nice and they keep up updated and speed wise and download capacity is exactly as advertised ie unlimited as I download a lot and never had any issues other then the above mentioned. Cerberus would of been ideal due to British Network Engineers but at the end of the day it was the price that I went with for Be so from the price point of view can understand the support not being so great. Cerberus Networks - Internet Services and Managed IT Systems Cerberus do the same thing except you get your own dedicated customer / tech support rep so any issues and you go directly to someone who is network trained and they keep you up to date with whats the fault and give you an aprox eta of fix time etc etc etc so if you can afford a touch more ( not much more then Be ) then I would defo go with cerberus ( I think powdamonkey originally suggested / posted them in another thread ) I'm on the Be unlimited package by the way ( aprox £17.50 a month which will go up slightly do to the VAT going back up in January 2010 ) Edited December 10, 2009 by EduTech Language 1

I'd suggest checking samknows and findingout who's got LLU at their exchange Heh I thought that sounded a bit mean Anyway Be have a half price offer at the moment, parents can get 8Mb (line has been tested) and unlimited downloads for £6.75 per month. Seems perfect for them.

Yeeeahhh, I discussed this but they are a bit stuck in their ways and don't want to leave BT But BT was way to expensive for unlimited downloads.
