Hey all,

Is there any formula or something for how far a project should be from a whiteboard to get the perfect image? (covering the full sceen?) i have been tasked with installing one!

If you look at the details for the projector it should tell you how far away it has to be to generate an image of "x" size. Thats why we installed all ours on boom arms off the wall, if we change projectors then we're covered for a change of specification. Edited December 6, 2009 by Crowmanuk

The projector/board installer we use told me that he uses a rule of thumb to install the projectors he puts up:

 

He makes sure that the Projector zoom is set to the middle of the range [50% zoom if you like] and places the projector on the mount based upon how far from the board is required to just fill the board with the projected image [not short throw projectors]

A lot of manufacturers websites now have a projector size calculator for there products, they take a bit of hunting down though.

 

I also use this website a lot - Projector Point and use its calculator its a great tool never let me down so far.

I use the calculation tool at ProjectorPoint at lot as well and find it very useful. Four our teachers, the actual spec of the projector seems to be less important than the need for it to project the correct size image! It's a bit trial and error though, going throught the various projectors trying to find one that fits the board dimensions!
