Hey guys, Its not a schools network but a few airports! im looking to upgrate to Server 2008 from 2003.its 3 sites and two dcs per site. Any recommendations how i should do this? Can i upgrade my second DC to 2008 and start upgrading my clients knowing that the permissions will be fine? or will i have to do all the servers in one bash? Any help will be much appreciated!

It was last week i dont think the lights flashed at all and the red x stayed through the computer icons to indicate no cable. So really i should rebuild these as XP?

Hi ALL, All the PC's at the site i look after are XP (Ecoquiets) and work fine. I have two Vista Ecoquiets and it just wont see the network cable, Both of them! Any ideas? Im thinking maybe it could be the service pack? what else could it be? Also the school still havent got me the RM paper work so i cant use the site to get the latest service pack, Can anyone help?

Hi Guys, Im looking at a new backup strategy as my tape drive has just broke. I believe i should be looking towards NAS now! I have spoke to a few people (sales people) and looked at a few models such as the SNAP 410 and the Buffalo. Can anyone recommend one? or information that i might find usful. I supposed i would have to also get some back up software and there will be licences for this? Im also on abit of a budget so i need to get what i can! im backing up about 300GB of data. Hi All, The school i have started to look after have brought some XP machines. These wont show the core programs which the RM machines show....Any help with this? Do i just need to add them to the desktop? And also where is the RM default profile as anything i do add to the all users desktop doesnt show! Thanks all!

Until i noticed it wont deploy the shortcuts! i have even added one of the short cut to a "core programs" section that has office etc just doesnt show! anyway of checking an error log for this?

Hi all, I have a few questions! First thanks to everyone who has helped me suss out RM been a great help! 1. I need to deploy a few icons to students desktops (its just a web link for a program called BKSB) whats the best way to do this? I would have thought batch file but how do i assign a batch file to the student machines through RM manager or is there a better way? 2. I need to keep the firewall on but allow remote desktop to work, Where should i add these settings in. Thanks all.

I dont need to move the user to the new ou. Old OU A2l Establishments Pupil NEW OU test OU Pupils For example when i try to add a user into the privedge users it points to the A2l OU however i need it to point to the test OU which i cant seem to do. This is the same as the computers as they are now in a different OU. If that makes any more sense?

Hi Guys, Im slowly getting to grips with RM management! however i need to change the OU's some of the data is pointing to! in the work stations tab under the that is main site and then your OU's. I wish to change the PC's i have in here to a new OU but need RM management console to point to them, How do i do that? Also when i right click a workstation and try to set a priviledge user its looking at the users old accounts in the old ou bloggsj in the non teaching staff ou when it should be pointing to jbloggs in the teachers OU? Any help is much appreciated!!!

Sounds good! Sorry to sound stupid but what management console are you refering to? (not done anything with RM before!)

Cheers guys! Im having this issue with several machines so i dont think its hardware but they are all eco quiets! Where do i get the HSP's from? And doesnt it cost to get them from RM? Also havent seen anything on the RM rebuilds! Can anyone provide any info! Again much appreciated for the help here!

Was abit afraid of dropping it from the domain incase i cant get logged on!!! Maybe worth a try though! It just shows the CC3 logo! I assumed that some sort of problem would do this? I have changed the cached account policy but still no use!
