Can Mac automatically open powerpoint files?

Hi guys

is there a way of setting up a mac so that it doesn't require you to open an office file by using the "open file with" option.

is there a way of setting "always associate this file type with Office 2008" type option?

Thanks

If you right click / control click on any .ppt file and go to 'get info' there will be a section entitled 'open with' and a drop down box to select a default application, if you select Powerpoint and close the get info window. It should hopefully use this application all the time.

Hope this helps,

Press and hold the Option key down, click on the file, Open With changes to read "Always Open With". So that’s it—select Always Open With, scroll down to find the application you’d like to use, and release the mouse.

This solution will work in Snow Leopard, but not Leopard, due to the application creator codes within the saved file.

It never seems to "stick" for very long with Leopard, but SL ignores creator codes and will open files with whatever application you want.

Right click,

Get Info,

then at the very bottom of the info window there will be a open with option

select the software then you can press the change all to associate all of the file type with the software
