  1. Sorry to drag up an old post but Any luck with this? Languages just came to us requesting Chinese keyboards added to both labs I've also been down the route of chasing Reg entry's but still nowhere. We tried setting this then re-sysprep'ing but seems sysprep just wipes everything out? MordyT are you setting anything specific for the Language Bar in sysprep? Thanks.
  2. You still charged them?? Dude, I'm just too nice with our staff, do a fair bit of personal stuff just for the hell of helping.... New years resolution: Must be more of a hard ass, I don't get paid enough for this!

    New Mac !!!!

I can't agree more! I used to hate Mac's until I sat down and used one for more than 5 minutes. It's the little things in OSX that make it so good! My workflow when doing pretty much anything on my Mac is so much faster than when I'm using my work laptop For me what makes the Apple machines amazing is the hardware... I have never seen a range of machines that are as well designed and manufactured than the current MacBook range they are robust, good looking and also so ergonomic, the Multi-touch trackpad etc are so nice to work with. Yes I agree it is overpriced but if you want it you have to pay the price... Its like a bespoke sportscar, yes you can race a Ferrari in a tuned Golf but you probably wont have a very nice time and it will take a lot of time and effort getting it to the same sort of standard.
  4. Tarporley is nearer Chester than anywhere, (Not a bad part of the country) Think the advert is just up in Capita's Liverpool office.
  5. we used a .bat to install, just making sure it was run /quiet worked here anyway. the only problem is you need to keep an eye out for when it finishes... or just leave it overnight.
  6. Yes seems to work very well! I have managed to make packages for both Windows and Mac and successfully deploy both! give me a shout if you have any problems... might run in to some of the same things. Thanks Chandan, yes i realise this. I'm installing CS5 now it was last year I had problems with the old deployment toolkit and CS4 stuff.
  7. They are apparently calling the Mac version a 'Preview' at the moment as it won't install via ARD if the machines are not logged in, allegedly this will be fixed with a new version by the end of June... Seems ok so far, just managed to make a package up for the Mac's so will try and push it out later this afternoon.
  8. Well I have been waiting for this for a week or so now but looks like its here! I had Major problems with CS4 and turns out it was because I didn't use the deployment kit (never knew about it) So hopefully this will make the problems go away! I have been following the run up on this blog by Eric Wilde Anyway the link to the toolkit is HERE I'm just going to have a play with it now so will let you know if I hit any problems etc. Jon.

    Scanners for Mac

Hey everyone! Our nice new iMacs are just about to arrive for the Art Dept' I just had a thought that the old nasty scanners they have might not work very well (they weren't to hot on the PCs) Anyone got a recommendation(s) of scanners that they have successfully been using? Might be looking for a couple of A3 flatbeds too. Cheers, Jon.
  10. This seems to have solved the problem for my machine thanks! I also found you need to use winhttp 'set proxy' not just 'proxy' Although having added this fix to some of the other test machines they still dont want to update? will keep trying.
  11. Whats the hoop?
  12. Right, this is a bit of a random one. Currently running a few 7 test machines on our staff and student networks everything seems to be going ok apart from good old Windows Updates? All we seem to be getting is update failures. Already been down the usual route, checked proxy and nothing appears to be getting blocked. Added all the url's and other bits it seems to be using to the bypass list. Anyone else had problems with this? any routes to updates 7 seems to be taking that are different than XP? Alternatively, I'm being rather stupid and missing something obvious Jon
  13. Yup we use them, Very good, quick and never had a problem taking anything away. Always been very happy with them
  14. I spent ages trying this, simple solution, sack off KMS go in to your windows licensing account and as you are looking at all your keys in there wonder you should also see a tab saying request MAK key, press this and you should get almost instantly a MAK key that will activate for you. I found our most recent batch didn’t work so went to the licences with the previous number sequence. I read somewhere that for KMS to work with server you need something like 20 Server clients talking to a KMS server you have set up.....? Will try and find the post?
  15. In light of the recent problems We have had here I would strongly recomend building fresh VM's and transfering data across, if you are building 2k3 machines we have found VM ware defaults to a Buslogic SCSI driver but 2k3 seems to run much better on LSI Logic (have found a fair few arguments for this on the web)
