APMerry Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 You need to go to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local. The drivers should be in there. Copy them out and then go to device manger and update drivers, browse my computer, let me choose from a list of drivers on my machine, then add the drivers in here. Thats how i got it working, this will force the device to use the drivers you specify. It should come up as a printer when youve done it. 1
Miscbrah Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Thanks, but when you say you add the drivers in from device manager, you're browsing to a folder where you've put everything from %temp% that came in from that install process, right? I'm doing exactly that but it's not happening for me :/ Just want to be sure I've got that right or you can see any glaring errors from my method. Meh, if it won't work it won't work though.
jcraig Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 If you pick update drive and point it at the folder it will not detect it to work as it is "not supported" you have to tell it that this is the driver it will use and not rely on the system finding it becaus it is compatable just your lovely pc is thick :-) of u follow my instructions earlia it tells u how to do his I you don't know I'm glad others are getting success too. Miscbrah Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Hi! Thanks for getting back to me on this. Right, I get the drivers will be in %temp% if I run through the setup64.exe's process, but I don't get how to 'force' the PC to take the drivers if it's not seeing them. I've read through this thread a couple of times now but I'm not getting that part. So, if I've got my folder full of the bits from %temp% how do I do the rest? Can anyone spoon feed that part to me? APMerry thanks for that, I think that's what I was doing though, but I'll go back and try it again...

adhutton Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Hi folks - Just an update on this issue. I spoke to a chap from Techsoft at BETT on Friday regarding the Windows 7 drivers for the TS-30. He has emailed me today: "Hi Andrew We’re currently testing at the moment on Windows 7 for both 32 & 64bit and want to be sure we give customers a working solution. We will let you know within the next fortnight what we recommend. Thank you for your patience. Regards Alex Wood Techsoft" Good news, eh? I will let you know once I hear more. Andrew 1
adhutton Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Techsoft have got back to me with a guide for installing the Roland TS-30 drivers on Windows 7. Haven't had time to try it yet, but it looks promising... Andrew_Installation_Instructions_for_RotoCAMM_TS-30_Printer_Driver_March_2013.pdf 1
adhutton Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I can now confirm that the Techsoft guide for Roland TS-30 Windows 7 driver installation is good. We have installed and it works! Yipeeee Andrew
turpy71 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I am struggling to find the drivers on the Roland site,.... Does someone have a copy that they can send me please? Also a user manual would be handy. Cheers Mike

turpy71 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Hi--- My awesome network manager has managed to track down the drivers and got me running. Thanks for your quick response though!
Tom8Tom Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 I too am needing the drivers for Windows 7. I really want to get this machine working in my school.
rvx Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Halo here Victor from Germany. We just received this machine at the Univ Leipzig. I would really aprreciate if can send me some of the drivers / software to start using it, as we just got the naked device. I was thinking if might be possible to use this device under Linuxcnc, or some of you have some experience / knowledge on this. I'm guessing that the USB might be just a USB to parallel port adapter, connected by the white flat cable. I have some photos of the 3 boads on the back. If this is true we could make the configuration much easier. Thank you very much for your time! /v
DJ-1701 Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Ok, so we recently had to get this working from Windows 7 32-Bit to Windows 10 64-Bit, in case any of you are still using the TS-30's we had to update the Firmware from a Windows 7 machine to the Firmware for the MDX40A, this is what we had to do... On a Windows 7 machine, download the UpgradePackage.exe from 3D | Download | Roland DG Corporation (aka http://download.rolanddg.jp/en/upgrade/program/UpgradePackage.exe) and run the package to extract the installer files into a directory. To update the Firmware you will need to be physically at the printer for the multiple times you have to press certain button combinations. Run the MDX40AUpdater.exe and follow the instructions, when asked to install the Printer, use the same information that @adhutton provided years ago for installation. (http://www.edugeek.net/attachments/forums/hardware/17745d1365160100-roland-ts-30-drivers-_installation_instructions_for_rotocamm_ts-30_printer_driver_march_2013.pdf) and select the drivers from the WindowsDriver subfolder. Once this has been done, you can now configure the device on Windows 10 64-Bit. On Windows 10 64-Bit, download the latest 64-Bit drivers from here https://www.rolanddga.com/support/products/milling/modela-mdx-40-3d-milling-machine (http://download.rolanddg.jp/en/upgrade/program/25D_WIN8X64_v120.zip) and extract to a folder. Go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Devices and Printers, at the bottom of the list should be an 'Unspecified' item named MDX-40A. Right click on this and select Properties. Select the Hardware tab and click on RolandMDX-40A and then click Properties. Click the Change settings button on the Window that appears. Select the Driver tab and click Update Driver. You will be asked 'How do you want to search for drivers?', select 'Browse my computer for driver software', then 'Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer'. Click 'Have Disk...' and select the location of the 64 Bit Drivers, 'Roland MDX-40A' should now appear, click 'Next' and when asked if you like to install the Roland Printer, click 'Install'. 1
citrusfish Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Hi Guys Anyone on here who can help me? My school has been gifted a Techsoft TS30 and I wondered what software and drivers I would need to get it to work? Can anyone advise me what and where to get them from please? Thanks Jeff
sixbells Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Huge thanks for this post, it helped me get my TS-30 working on W10. I had some minor issues mentioned here in case this helps somebody: 1. On my W7 PC the firmware update became unresponsive, I had to go to Device Manager -> Right click on the computer -> Scan for hardware changes. After doing that I was able to assign the MDX40A driver as per the adhutton / Techsoft procedure, and after that the firmware update completed 2. On my W10 machine Vpanel did not work until I updated it to v110 1
hunterscotty Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Hello everyone! I also have an old TS-30 which I cannot seem to get working with Windows 10. I do not have access to a Windows 7 machine. Has anybody got a work around so that I can get this machine working, or will I need to replace the control card? Any help would be really appreciated!

I'm trying to follow these instruction to get our TS-30 updated. The only difference is that our machine has been connected to a Windows XP machine for many years. I'm now tasked with getting this installed on a Windows 10 machine. I've built up a Win7 32bit laptop for this update. But when I try to run the MDX-40A firmware updater I get the error after Step 2. No signal. Cannot find active printer driver. I have installed the Win7-32bit driver for the MDX-40A and its showing the printer online. I don't have the original CD for the TS-30. Do I need to have this disc and install a Vista / 7 version of TS-30 or should the MDX-40A driver work at this stage before firmware updating? Appreciate any help you can give.
DJ-1701 Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 This was a few years ago since we had to do this, but the engine that's used on the TS-30 and the MDX-40A is the same, so would have thought the MDX-40A driver would work at that stage. If I can find the old driver though I will let you know. It was a bit of a pain as we found the firmware updated would not work on 64-Bit at the time at least.
ajax_miller Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Mike, were you able to resolve this problem and get the firmware installed? I'm using Windows XP with the TS-30 32 bit driver (from the original CD) and the machine works fine. However, I would very much like to upgrade to a 64 bit Windows 10 compatible driver and this is a no-go at present.

I'm using Windows XP at present (because that's the only O/S I can get to work with a driver) on what is presumably stock TS-30 hardware. It would be very nice to do a firmware update and get the MDX-40A driver installed.

Mobius Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 (edited) Hi, May be able to help. I have the mdx-40 and could not update or connect same as you. turned out (after 2 days faffing and fixing old pc that could run xp) it could be one of two things so try easy first. while the view light is on machine data can not transfer, try pressing view button on machine so light goes out and see if that works Edited December 14, 2021 by Mobius
