We currently use our ISP email and OWA. The staff aren't very happy with OWA for use of more than a few minutes and I can understand why. I'm looking at other options but we don't want to use Outlook if we can help it as it might not be on all PC's. I've been using Live Mail with IMAP and that seems to be ok but I haven't tried it with mandatory profiles yet. I think you can roll it out via WSUS as well which would be a bonus.

What email clients are edugeekers using and are you using any with mandatory profiles?

I understand that they would have to enter their username and password each time with mandatory profiles but if that's the only issue then it's an improvement over OWA.

Opinions appreciated?

Thanks.

Outlook, with the shortcut pointing to a prf config file so it auto loads the settings when launched.

Yeh I know Outlook will work but it's not on all stations at the moment.

Are you using that as an IMAP client? I take it no PST is required in this setup?

Thanks.

HI there

Were using outlook 2007 with an in house exchange server, however it might be worth talking to your ISP since there providing you with OWA they may be able to let you have outlook anywhere access.

Outlook anywhere still requires Outlook right? As I said above i'm looking for an alternative to Outlook.

Are you using just e-mail or calanders and tasks too?

We're just after basic IMAP email for now. Something that they can minimise while they're working and notify them of new mail which OWA in a browser doesn't do.

Quackers do you use this setup with mandatory profiles? If so do your users have to enter their Username, Password and Email address each time they start the program?

Thanks.
