Iphone applecare

The Applecare on Iphone can I buy it after I have brought the phone and if so does it have to be within so many days of getting the phone.

You can, yes. The warranty from the likes of Carphone Warehouse/o2 etc. however has to be purchased there and then so that they can guarantee that the phone is in perfect condition.

Ahh 2G = iPhone 3G so I am covered. Thats pretty awful of apple tbh as you have no easy way to buy the phone if you bork it.

Surely 2G means 2G in mobile phone data terms only therefore the first iphone

 

ie.

 

2G (data) phones

iphone 2G = First iphone

 

3G (data) phones

iphone 3G = Second iphone

iphone 3GS = Third iphone

Well the guy in the o2 store said at the time it was a length of contract warrenty when I bought my 3g last year.

They are really taking the P by not offering a two year warranty on a 24 month contract for a phone that costs £500+ to replace.

Aren't there EU regs that state all consumer products must be covered by a 2 year warranty.

 

The burden of proof changes at the 1 year mark (I think).

Consumer Direct - Extended warranties

 

There has been some recent press activity around EU legislation which appears to provide consumers with a '2 year guarantee' on goods.

 

The EU legislation describes a legal guarantee which is enforceable across Europe for a minimum of 2 years. The use of the term ‘guarantee’ can be somewhat misleading as many consumers relate this to manufacturers/ retailers guarantees on goods which are often freely given for around 1 year after the purchase of some goods.

 

The EU legislation does apply in the UK, however as the UK already had a whole host of consumer legislation, instead of creating new laws the changes were incorporated into existing UK law, The Sale of Goods Act as amended 1979.

 

The UK already has far greater protection for consumers than is generally found in the EU legislation. Some of the benefits of the Sale of Goods Act include a 6 year statutory limitation period as opposed to the 2 years offered by EU, which means that you can bring a claim for up to 6 years in the UK and Wales and 5 years in Scotland and can reject goods and claim a refund of the price paid under certain circumstances.

These eBay sellers reliable enough for the care? I suppose I should look at it myself. My phone is still under the original warranty so if I was to buy now, would I get the Apple Care on top of my current warranty?

The above reseller may be perfectly legit however please be aware when buying AppleCare on eBay....the following is a statement from Apple UK
