mjs_mjs Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 We're struggling with 10 fibers as it is and need to add more. Anyone got any surjestions on a switch with multtiple GBIC and miniGBIC interface slots? looking for 10+ GBIC and as many miniGBIC as poss (about another 10)
john Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 You could try: Layer 3 Rack Mountable Managed Gigabit Switch GSM7312 or ProSafe™ Layer 3 Managed, Stackable, Gigabit Switch - GSM7328FS The last one is a beast! I aspire to getting one of them in my rack ready for when I have my fibres in all the places the need to be then we will have one decent network backbone
Oops_my_bad Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 ProSafe™ Layer 3 Managed, Stackable, Gigabit Switch - GSM7328FS The last one is a beast! I aspire to getting one of them in my rack ready for when I have my fibres in all the places the need to be then we will have one decent network backbone I'll concurr with that - we have 2 buildings each with one of these as their core. Solid as a rock! They only have SFP fibre ports though (easily solved with £50 tranceivers from hardware.com)
kylewilliamson Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Can recommend one of these: HP ProCurve Switch 5400zl Series
Tallwood_6 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Yep another vote for the procurve, got a 5400 and the older 4200 series both are excellent & the 5400 will go 10gbit as well.
