For PC players, how are you finding it? Is it really infested with hackers? And what sort of spec would you recommend? :)

I received my copy on PS3 on Tuesday and by Saturday I've completed the game on veteran. There were only a few levels that caused me some problems and occasional rubbish AI being shot as soon as I restart a level!

Playing online and having a go at the special-ops is much more of a challenge. I'm pretty sure some people live on their consoles!

Those of you on Xbox, have a look at the top players list

The thing is that throughout the game, you get penalised for shooting innocents or committing a spot of friendly fire, then you are faced with a level where it's all thrown out of the window and you do the complete opposite. There is no way that you could justify that level of killings of innocents in order to go undercover.

I still don't think the playable aspect of that level was necessary.

Maybe I'm just turning into an old fuddy duddy.

Do you have to shoot anybody , i thought after , What if i just looked busy and missed the people would i have got through the level? maybe a large acheivement would be nice for that

Loved the airport level. I was in such a rush to get the kills i was being shot in the back by the terrorists. I even started hunting people in the little shop areas. Everything just rushes you through though so you can not savour it all.

I did not see the complaints about Hitman and one of my favourite levels where you are at some Mardi Gras thing in the streets and there are gazillions more people to kill than the level in MW2. I used to run out of bullets and have to hunt additional weapons to try to kill everyone. Never managed it though cos i think they respawned real fast. Great fun though. Reminded me of the old game Smash TV, kill kill killllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!

Don't play games if you don't like killing things on screen. Even in pacman its kill or be killed with the ghosties sometimes.

absolutely fantastic, I have yet to come across a hacker, although I dont doubt that it will be long. The fact that it goes through steam is a bonus as it cuts down on piracy, plus if you do hack, your WHOLE account gets banned, not just that game :D.

Spec would have to be decent dual core, 2GB Ram.,100gb HDD just for good measure, and atleast an 8800 GTX graphics card, the rest is down to you.

Enjoyed the single-player, the Burger Town mission and after the EMP strike were quality but multiplayer hasn't impressed me at all this time

Too much power given to the choppers and air strikes, too many campers and Xbox uber geeks out there to make it enjoyable. The best thing about COD4 was that everyone started pretty much at the same level, now it's idiots aiming for killstreaks over teamwork (why play team objective games if you don't care?!) and snipers everywhere

Call me old fashioned, but I lost interest in COD after COD2. Fancy graphics aside, the maps in later versions were too small for me.

I enjoyed nothing more than hurtling round in a jeep or sitting up on a hillside sniping on the big maps that COD2 had! It was great to watch someone 'run' halfway round a map to capture a weypoint then pick them off with a well aimed sniper shot!

I 'migrated' to Battlefield 2 in the end, but don't really play that much any more.

Are the maps in COD MW2 bigger than their predecessors?

A couple of the maps are huge and are prime for snipering.

There is the remake of Brecourt from CoD1 (sadly missing the cows) and the snow level I cant remember the name of lol

That's a point... I thought vehicles were meant to be back in this version

Could really do with a few jeeps or skimobiles to get around the bigger maps at times!

Best thing was United Offensive with the mod pack on to make the jeeps and tanks F1 speed :D

There were a few snow maps in the early versions. My favourite was the one in the woods, Hurtgen.

I've just thought of a quality map mode :D

Call of Duty wacky races on snowmobiles... or how about one guy on a snowmobile hunting all the other people... Infinity Ward I'll take 50% cut if you wanna use the idea ;)

I hated Hurtgen, used to play it on clanbase rotation for leauge matches - campers are us lol!

I never really got this "camper" label. If someone is playing a game and they choose to be a sniper, then 'camping' goes with the sniper status, surely? You can't be a sniper and hurtle round all over the place.

In real wars you get snipers just the same, it's just another dimension to the gaming side of things.

I can't abide small maps where you just run around shooting anything that moves to amass points.

I prefer the more 'strategic' approach where you 'plan' your killing spree, checking out good locations and making sure you are an accurate shot.

So much more rewarding to take out the enemy who has managed to stealth their way over three quarters of the map to be taken out by a well executed sniper shot just as they are about to CTF! :D

Or maybe the mix of "infantry" to snipers should be limited somehow... doesn't make for much of a game when there's 5 snipers on the base and 1 guy running around trying to actually do something... imagine if everyone sniped, nothing would ever happen

I tried it once, counted 30 seconds then got bored of waiting so got up and ran around shooting stuff, really can't see the fun of waiting for a few shots a game personally

I do a bit of both. On the snow one and the massive one with the radiation all round the edge im normally a sniper and will either sit there or creep around the edge and pick them off. Got 14 kills on the snow one last night without getting seen  then there spawn point changed to under the building that i was lieing on top of so when they were getting shot in back of the head it didnt take long before i suddenly had 4 grenades at my feet .

However on highrise i run around with 2 silenced machine guns and grenades causing a ramage :D I just adapt my style depending on what mode (team, ffa etc) and what level. Means i never get to bored.

I personally hate sniping, im not very good at it, not with a 360 controller anyway. I always love my assult rifles and my new toy is the javelin missile which can be alot of fun ;)

Out of interest what do people average with their kills/deaths per map? I get between 20/30 kills per map and depending how laggy it is anywhere from 0/20 deaths.

Posted

FFA i will average 25-30kills and 5-15 deaths. Team 20-40 kills 10-15 deaths.

I agree the javelin is a lot of fun, love shooting down the heliopters uavs and planes :D

Ahem it's more like deaths \ kill for me these days :p

I prefer sabotage, ctf etc, best one was defusing the bomb with a grenade about to go off beside me... HOST MIGRATION... and bang the grenade is gone, I defuse the bomb :bowl:
