built in instant messaging

With yahoo and hotmail now featuring a built in instant chat service how are you filtering this?

 

we currently have issues with students im'ing eachother in class....

We simply just don't allow access to any third-party web-based email providers. We have our own email server so there's no reason for anyone to use anything different.
