You can add your own twitter account in your profile already. How else do you want it to integrate?

We use twitterfeed.com : feed your blog to twitter to get the posts to twitter. Also I have updated the settings so our tweets have Edugeek.net at the start. Hopefully that will make it slightly better to deal with. Also a question do you want the to be a pure forum/blog post feed or would you want that account to be more interactive. Yeah, but I have made a conscious choice to try and limit Twitter to professional activities or links with other professionals, with facebook as a more personal tool for linking with friends and family. I also use it as a not taking tool at conferences and events. Learning how to take notes in 140 characters or less is interesting, but also means I can make use of hashtags to link with others doing similar. I know of many that are teh typical 'dave' and I have had to explain to them why I have unfollowed them, and then pointed out that by using selective twitter on FaceBook I can still see what they do anyway. Oh ... but some of the trend tags can be so much fun. #oneletteroffmovies has been fun this weekend.

So you could point your Twitter-ing client at EduGeek for it to pick up updates or whatever - you wouldn't have to create an account on Twitter.com. Note that I don't think this is a particularly useful idea - I don't see what advantage such an API would have over RSS - but hey, someone asked. It might be a simple vBulletin plugin. -- David Hicks
matt40k Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 You could do it with WordPress. Problem you would have is you'll need a lot of twitter accounts. Personally just do it for the main announcements then see how it goes... that's if you're going to do it.

It might be a simple vBulletin plugin. -- David Hicks afaik the twitter api is simply a means to input data to or retrieve data from twitter. you get the data out in xml or json format iirc so data flows like: Twitter > API > xml > client it's plausible that edugeek could create xml data in the exact same format as twitter, but I doubt any twitter clients allow connecting to "other sources". Unless someone was to create one that accessed edugeek data in that fashion. Although it is still akin to reinventing the rss wheel however a random thought just popped into my head...an edugeek desktop client, whereby you can interact with edugeek threads without opening a browser and IM with other online users. hmm you could effectively run a live helpdesk with such a thing. imagine such a thing with a periodic guest helplines say one staffed by capita or sophos ~ how handy would that be!?
