Anyone else running 8GB with no issues? Reports on forums looked a bit hit-and-miss, some people saying you need ECC and others saying you don't. The server itself supports 8GB, but the spec mentions ECC and the RAM Servers Plus supply is non-ECC.

Running 4GB non-ecc.

Used OCUK and was about £50 for a 2X2gb

Probably just us then, I had no problems with 4GB non-ECC so it was probably just dodgy channel 2 slots. The RAM I got was Kingston Value RAM (always used in the past with no issues) PC2-6400 CL6, two 2x2GB kits. I'll update tomorrow if the server shows up, thanks guys. :)

I used Crucial Ballistix ram in mine (was old stuff - read that as 1gb sticks) from my Desktop when I upgraded that to 8GB using 2GB sticks so kept those as they matched the 2GB it came with for mine and worked fine.

Whoop whoop, 8GB RAM all running in the new server, looks like it was just a dodgy channel on the original one. Great service by Servers Plus to get the new one shipped out. ;)

Now all I've got to do is fit the second NIC, set up my SAN for NFS over a private network, get ESXi installed, build the VMs, load test everything...

Cheers guys,

Chris
