ChrisH Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 It's been mentioned before especially by Geoff and other people are using it too. Aparently the GPOs dont give you as much control as you would like so you have to get a little creative.
Geoff Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Sorry, but the frontmotion stuff has been superceeded by something better. Go have a look at the Firefox Corporate Project. http://www.sanduskycomputers.com/downloads/fxcorp/ I'm in the process of replacing IE with Firefox in all my schools using this. I've not hit any reason to stop. It deals with all the inflexibilities of previous attempts. Very impressive.
mrforgetful Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 We use firefox here, as long as I can set a default proxy server I'm not too fussed about changing anything else in it, I quite like that the students can change it how they like. Plus, if they screw it up I just delete their Firefox folder from their User Area and get them to log out and in again, recreating a default one.
pete Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 additionally I found the Firefox Client Customisation Kit today, which might be of use to some people: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2553/ http://www.mozilla.org/projects/cck/firefox/ 1
Geoff Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Beware, the firefox corp project and the client customisation kit interfere with each other and 'fight' over various pref settings. Don't use them together. 1
