I'm sure many of you have already played with this, but just wanted to say I was impressed with the level of detail for Carlise and most areas of the UK as opposed to what's available on Google Earth. I can see my house!!! (And the two sheds in the back yard, one of which I recently took down so the cavity wall insulators could do there stuff on the back wall, only to find out that the house has no cavities afterall even though the company inspecter said it did!!!)

Anyway here is the URL for those who haven't seen it.

Slow and doesn't work right in firefox here.

BTW. Google updated their imagery over the summer for many locations. Have you looked for your house recently? :)

Gosh, just how slow IS local.live.com?? Also, its maps are at least three years out of date, the same as Google Earth's pictures are for Milton Keynes:

Google Earth still haven't updated where I live. I don't mind, as it's only been in place for a year.

But, if you look at MK10 9LD, which is near where my sister lives, it's just a field.

There's been houses there for 3 years (it's three years next month since she moved in), so I know that my local map is at least three years out of date :-D

Yes, the images are old, but at least I can see my house! Still nothing on google earth for the whole of Cumbria!!! Shame, there's some stunning scenery amongst the fells and lakes.

Oh I don't know. I found some of Steve Balmer's work to be quite original.

You mean Steve BALMY!!! It doesn't surpise me that Microsoft use a nut case to promote their less than innovative software.

The video deserves a caption along the lines of "This is who Microsoft have working on their software, which explains how it's got as bad as it is. Be afraid; be very afraid."

Hope you have all seen Flash Earth then. Can flick between Google and Live maps at a click of a button and all the functionality of Google Earth from a web browser.

Now that's COOL. 8)

The GE pics of my place are 18 months newer than M$, but the later are somewhat clearer. I can tell by which of my recent lemon cars is parked outside.

Pics of my school are over a year old too, but very good.

I love live.local.com, its much better than Google Earth For my area. It also doesnt need any downloads and is kinder to the profile than Google Earth. Also it doesnt steal all your data and sell it to strange people for lots of money.

Indirectly they do. They look at what your doing with their services and send you 'relevant' adverts along with your search results/email/web pages/etc.
