chemicalbrothers_69 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I have a problem with group policy, the students account can log on perfectly fine, still needs locking down less but thats not a worry at the minute, im having trouble accessing the all programs, as soon as you click on it, it just does nothing at all! im guessing this is to do with group policy, im struggling as this is all new to me, im an ict technician but have little knowledge of servers, while i remembers its on windows server 2003 and the laptop trolley is running windows xp. Or is is to do with something else? any help appreciated dan!
3s-gtech Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 How do you mean, all programs? Do you mean the Start Menu entry, or something else?
chemicalbrothers_69 Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 well yes, you can click on start but when you click on all programs the next side bar does not come up at all, like its been locked out. You can still click on start and can access my documents, my computer etc
3s-gtech Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 You can block the All Programs folder with Group Policy (this is best practice), which seems likely here - User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Start Menu and Taskbar/Remove All Programs list from the Start menu. Use Folder Redirection to instead send users to a network Start Menu with a set of programs they'll need on it.
chemicalbrothers_69 Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 Have you redirected the start menu at all? No i havent, im tried the solution suggested but its not worked, still doing the same thing. Im trying to work it out so bad spent nearly 4 hours trying to suss it out
