Hi Gromit. I've stumbled on this site tonight and joined up. I was an IT Advisor to schools in Wexford and now have a tiny business providing Tech Support to schools here. One small 2 teacher school has 2 XE40 projectors which are so dull they are unusable. They have been quoted a small fortune by a firm in Dublin to clean the projectors but I reckon I'd do it for far less if I got my hands on your sequence of events guide from this time last year. Is it available on line. Mick

sanyo plc xu 47 .when we press power button on projector intial it apperas green after almost 1 min. power light blinks red and projector is not focusing the after repeating so many times problem is same . It appears that the projector thinks that it is cooling itself off and shutting down as it would normally do when you are done using it. In reality, the projector never actually starts up.

I've cleaned both filters and reset the projector also.

??????????????????

I've had this problem also w/o the lens falling out. I unscrewed it and cleaned it w/o problems but still have the shadow on 3 of the the 8 I've done so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a quick thanks to omardaiekh for the thermal switch advice. In the current UK heat, one of the projectors stopped turning on with the symptom of 3 cycles of different fan speeds then a constant blinking red power light.

The first time I attempted to fix it I failed.. I thought I had heard a "click" on the first try.. then the 3rd time I was more forceful with the screwdriver and it went down much further and gave a more solid click! Job done.

Thank you for the tip.. could have ended up being expensive otherwise.

Thank you so much. It looks like it will help and your closing line was funny. Also, I was able to find and buy a service manual online which is helping as well. I hope to give it a try this week.

Hi all, does anybody know where I can get a service manual for a Sahara AV 3618? The nearest thing I have found was a user manual for a Delta 3618, (looks the same apart from the added security detachment).

Thanks in advance

Can I please suggest caution regarding service manuals - the vast majority of them are not for public consumption, a majority again are not legally sellable as the sellers don't have the relevant distribution rights. I know it's horrible going through regulated service people but you can just ask here for guidelines, no doubt there's plenty of people (myself included) who have dissassembled and repaired succesfully who will be more than happy to help.

Yes, we really do want to know how to clean the Sanyo pcl-xe40 projectors. We have a couple hundred of them in our school district, image is poor, light is dim. They need to be cleaned.

Thanks for what you've posted, hope to hear back from you in detail at my email: [email protected]

I've got this problem today! I've printed of the xe40 pdf guide on the 3rd page of this thread and will give it a go. I did buy a refurbished xe40 at the beginning of the month from sound and vision av for £170 which compared well to £80 for a bulb replacement-none available at the moment but it says awaiting stock. I'm going to give the cleaning a go though.
