Cleaning the Sanyo PLC-XE40 projector

Did the manual ever get completed for the Sanyo PLC-xe40? I am at a school that every room has one and they all need cleaning very bad. We do not have the funds for replacements so I figured someone better clean them

If the projector needs cleaning and without one its not much use, then just take out the screwdriver and methodically start to strip one. So long as you are sensible its not that bad. Having done a few now they seem to follow similar lines. The hardest job is usually getting in to the case itself.

just don't blow compressed air into it while its hot! its goes bang! :D found that out last week while about 3 inches away!

1-first you need to take off the screws shown in picture 1.(7 screws).

2-pull over the upper case half.

3-as shown is the other 2 pictures try to insert something that is hard and narrow until you feel the tick

(this tick means that you reset the heat trigger to its original case).

so the projector can work normally now.

I've got a sanyo with an 'overheat' problem... I'm going to have to go rummaging inside it and find that trigger too... the fan works beautifully, but insists on shutting itself down when it's been on for less than 1 minute.

but if light is coming out of it for 1 second.

then its not the heat thing.

when the trigger is triggered , it wont start up at all.

the power red light will get green for 10 to 15 seconds without any light coming out of the projector.

then it gets back as if you shutdown it. and the power red light keep blinking.

 

so i dont know what the problem with yours.

I know this is basic but i put it together pretty quick. I have almost 3000 located in my district. We have just started cleaning. I think I will be a while. Good luck!!

we have xu-74 which are a pain with dust, we use air duster to blow them out, but think the best we have ever had is 2897 hours from a bulb. had infocus filter free units in some of our primary schools, touch wood nearly issue free for dust.

Is there anyway you can send me a copy your disassemble, cleaning and reassemble process. I have broken the projector down but I have put a lens in wrong because I can't get it to focus all the way. Not sure which one. Thanks, Lynn

Could you let me have a copy of your cleaning guide, we have a number of these projectors, and only today one has started showing signs of magenta, which googling means the dreaded dust ( on green panel).

PS where did you get your service manual from?

I haven't gotten a manual. I just started taking screws out and got down to the light path. My only problem was I put a lens in backwards. I finally figured out which lens and I have my projector working now. They are not hard to take apart. Lynn

Just had a look at that, excellent, not got one of these but was just curious. Funny how so many projectors look just the same and follow the same procedure once you take the lid off.

Hi all new to this site but would appreciate any help. I have cleaned 4 or 5 sanyo plc-xe40 projectors for local schools with very good results just stripping down and using small air compressor ( with slow & gentle blasts ) to blow out dust from all the usual areas . But yesterday not having compressor with me found that one of the 3 LCD screens attached to prism was very dirty and took off LCD bracket to clean behind, big mistake 2 small glass panels (i think called pre polarizer ) fell out when I unscrewed the bracket. I cleaned what had to be cleaned and tried to put them back the right way but after several attempts of doing this ( reassemble the whole thing to test image ) now have screen image with green shadow on edges of windows ,text and icons . School back after mid term break this monday . please please anyone help . thanks

i followed the instructions given carfeully and it worked wonders for two projectors, however for some reason on the 3rd one the focal length has gone!!!!

to get it in focus i need to be roughly 2 foot from the screen (its a fish eye lens)

everything appears to be right, the lenses cant be the wrong way as they dont fit in their wee holders.

somehow the main lens has gone wrong...

Any advice?? please...
