Card Reader with TV Out?

Hi,

 

Had an interesting request from a department. They want a card reader with a TV-Out so they can just take a card from a digital camera and pop it in said device which is connected to a LCD and slideshow the pics. Just wondered if anyone had seen anything like this?

 

I could just say, use the camera, but a generic device would be much better and less hassle. Closest solution I can come up with would be a digital photo frame with card slots and a TV-Out, but that's a bit of an ugly compromise. I know newer TV's these days have them built in, but couldn't quite justify a new TV just for that purpose!

 

Any ideas?

I would look for a DVD player with card reader, maybe one like this - Sumvision Phoenix Premium 1080p HDMI DVD/Divx/Jpeg Player inc USB + Bulit-In Card Reader - Scan.co.uk, although you may be able to find cheaper.

Thanks - I was after something a bit more portable to be honest though. Perhaps some sort of hand held media device with TV-out. My search continues!

A few PDAs and smartphones can output video, but you'd need to research how accessible the card slots are. Also I suspect that it would probably be more economical to buy a TV with a built-in reader in many cases!

EDITED a samsung hd tv with a usb port and just get a usb card reader cable dongle type attachment and then they just insert the memory card and swap the channel to relevant channel and jobs a good one

 

Ive got a samsung telly - as other thread the remote and response time is pants but if you get one of those universal remotes works great.

A HD TV ( whether samsung or other make ) that has a usb connection that can do slide shows of images etc

I use on of these for video playback etc, it would certainly do the job.

 

Fairly small and just needs power and a scart cable.

 

You have obviously thought about just using a av cable with the camera, thats what I would probably go with.
